Texting

You Won’t Hurt Their Feelings

Okay, we’re going to be blunt: texting while driving is hands down one of the dumbest things someone could do behind the wheel. The only thing dumber than texting behind the wheel is watching your driver do so and not telling him/her to stop. It doesn’t matter if the driver is a professional racer or the national texting champ, texting and driving do not go together. Ever.

So how do you tell the distracted driver to put down the phone without sounding uptight? Here are a few things you can say to help ensure that you and the driver arrive safely to your destination:

  • “Do you want me to hold onto your cell phone while you’re driving?”
  • “You pay attention to the road and let me respond to that text for you.”
  • “Hey, hand me your phone. I read this awful article about a car accident where some teenagers died because the driver was texting.”
