Do I Look Like a Chauffeur?

WARNING: Do NOT use the material below on your parents. It will not turn out well.

So it starts out like this:

Friend: Can you pick me up before we go to the movies?

You: Sure!

Friend: Can we pick up two people from John’s house?

You: Uh, I guess . . .

Friend: Great! Oh, and do you mind taking me home?

You: What?!?

You offer to give a friend a ride and then the next thing you know you’re the chauffeur. No one wants to be taken advantage of. And here’s what you can do to get out of being a car service:

• “I wish I could give you a ride, but unfortunately my parents are real sticklers about my driving. I can’t afford to get in trouble.”
• “I can give you a ride but the others are on their own.”
